MARI, SALLED DU TRONE
n 2008, in Paris I happened to his hands on a catalog French archaeological excavations in Syria. I made several shots at some pictures. A particularly struck me: a black and white photos, the 60s, the throne room of the royal palace of Mari, an ancient Sumerian capital on the banks of the Euphrates.
The hall, without ceiling, entire walls still showed more than 3 feet high, completely empty, sober and monumental, given more austere black and white. In August 2009, during a trip to Syria, I stop to Mari, but I saw the room, walls rebuilt today has lost the charm that this stock photo emanated intact. All this stems from the idea of the video, made using only ever shot at this one page of a catalog. And 'the representation of a place where archeology, history and myth breaking boundaries invading each other.
