with the usage of the physical body and the endless struggle to attain a non-existing perfection, Sandra D’Angelo produces a series of photos where she captures the idea of tranformation in pre- and post-surgical pictures of people who have undergone aesthetic operations. D’Angelo’s works are true: she uses real pictures of patients before plastic surgery, provided by the world-famous surgeon, who actively participates in this project. She merges physical details and real elements with the icons of a crazy millennium. She blends and transforms ugliness by using different techniques, engravings and clashing colors in shocking compositions which go beyond reality and highlight the aesthetical changes of the new millennium. Just like aliens, just like new prototypes of a canonized beauty, Sandra D’Angelo’s bodies are post-human beings, a new definition of a natural notion.
