Scopophilia vs scopophobia

Apart of the fear of being seen or stared at by others, why do we also have the desire to be seen by others?
Freud would probably answer that there is not such dilemma: within that fear there is already an embedded desire, through its revelation the fear would inevitably emerge.
Nowadays the mirror “doesn’t reflect anymore”( or rather, we see ourselves ever so flawed and in need of more corrections), it is substituted by the glossy images of the advertising system and how we ought to appear for the others…
