Lively

This painting makes historical reference to the common practice of artists through the centuries to study, draw and paint skulls in their studios. Having lived in New Mexico for two years, I find skulls have come to represent for me life, rather than death. The colours and energetic brush and line work speak to the life/ death dialectic in each of us.
