releases, which she had gathered, filed and preserved since her move to London in 2004. She
attended hundreds of shows and each time, as a token, collected the press release. This collection
represented all the art that she had seen in numerous venues. Taking on the idea that all new art
that is made is in fact a melting-pot of the things one has seen and been influenced by, she has re-
used her entire collection of press releases as a medium to create something new. The flux of
visuals she has seen is therefore represented within these press releases. Using these as a
material, she shredded and then re-assembled them, intertwining it all into a weave. In fact, Lulu is
also making a point through the act of shredding, a form of destruction. Lulu believes, even though
she carefully collects, that press releases are a way of conforming opinions and making art less
personal. She reads the press releases nonetheless so as to form a general idea of the
background of the artist and his/her themes. However, she uses it only as a guideline to then
assess for herself what she is viewing
