Capitivity

In this Renaissance inspired painting I explore the interplay between control and submission through the theme of Breastfeeding. In a symbolic quasi-surrealist scene a native american woman and her european baby interact. Like a caterpillar trapped in a cocoon he cries to be fed whereas the mother assertively replies in a manner suggesting that feeding happens in her own terms.
