Buongiorno Belgrado
The art installation has been conceived for the 10th International Workshop Real Presence of Belgrade.
It consists of 4000 paper boats, every single one made by the books pages of the famous serbian poet Dusko Radovic.
The books, around 40, some second-hand and some new, were the aphorisms collection the beloved poet has offered to his city, every morning at 07.15 am, through a well-known radio programme called Dobro Jutro Beograd (Good morning Belgrade).
As Dusko Radovic has done for about 10 years, we wanted to offer the same aphorisms to bystanders, visitors, tourists as well as to Belgrade’s people.
As how boats do, now words are free to cruise and to bring with them the culture of a place and besides to remind Belgrade’s people their identity.
For this reason, all the visitors were asked to take their own paper boat and bring it with them. A small boat that through paper’s fragility takes the power of words all over the world.
