the Death of an emotional Replica
The performance is part of the Vitrina Project, a public art orientated project during which 21 artists are to show their work at the entrance of the studio for 21 weeks, each artist for each week. Works are visible from the street 24hours per day, in order to be easily accessible.
The installation was exhibited for a week, the last week of July, under heavy heat and humidity conditions. Every night after midnight, a 30 minutes long performance was taking place as part of the installation, where the artist was standing completely still in an awkward position, as the replica’s dead body.
Passers by were weirdly surprised by the scene.
The work is inspired by the science fiction mythology of the replicas becoming emotional intelligent and thus claiming a life of their own.
It is part of a wider frame of the artist research about emotional intelligence.
