Carpe diem
This work implies the relationship between Life and death, which are close to each other and also connected to our everyday life. The title of this work is “Carpe diem” which means, "seize a day" in Latin. This work is based on the idea of Carpe diem, which is as follows: death stays closer with us in everyday life and we cannot avoid the fate. It might happen anytime any moment so enjoy the life at present while we can. I served assorted Sashimi(row fish) on the plate so that the viewers can help themselves to Sashimi. At the same time, I especially focused on the custom of eating fish in Japanese way. I also tried to reflect Japanese custom of saying 'Itadakimasu upon my work. We say ITADAKIMASU before every meal to show gratuity towards the food, which brings good health and long life to all of us.
