This picture is part of a project named “Surrealist Landscapes”, born in 2010. Photographing the Landscape from a metaphysical and surrealist perspective: I draw on the lesson of Mirò Dalì and Niki de Saint Phalle, but also the inclined or reflecting planes associated with Francis Bacon and Michelangelo Pistoletto. “Surrealist landscapes” go back to our italians birthplaces, willing to plunge into them in a far more personal way. But it is also a way to explore and convey the change, progress, hardships and unease of our civilization. The landscape turns into a dream. As in psychoanalysis, it is through dream that the landscape unveils the deepest feelings to both ourselves and the others. In order to achieve this result, I have drawn upon glare, which is the most effective way for me to interpret reality. Nevertheless, shapes are exactly the same as those I have "frozen" with my camera. Instead, the painting section of the project has emerged during the process of colour elaboration (though not solely that).
