The Night Watchmen

In the video installation The Night Watchmen, a multitude of nocturnal faces embedded on the circularity of the Bramante Temple (The Tempietto) look at and look for the wandering visitors: 24 videocreatures, contemporary sibiles, splitting like Jano, the roman god, watchmen of the universe with a double profil that links knowledge of the past and intuition of the future. The ancient columns of stone of the Bramante Temple interlocked with the video columns designed by Elastic group give birth to a new skin, a digital renaissance. It’s the first time that a group of contemporary artists create a video installation site specific using the monument emblematic of italian renaissance architecture setting 12 video columns with 24 video portraits on plasma monitors 60’ in between the ancient colonnade.
