Contact Sheet III
This work forms part of the series Shoulder to Shoulder in which the Suffragette movement provides a historical context for the performance and investigation of protest today. The Suffragette’s campaigned for women’s enfranchisement (the vote) in the early twentieth century.
Civil protest in 2011 is very much in the news both in terms of National and International events. Research into the phenomenal surge of protest around the world recently, it’s impetus and organization (or lack of), its aims and the realities of change, is a huge and complex area. My interest for the purposes of my practice is the role of an individual within the continuum of stasis and change.
