In this serie I describe an armed landscape: battleships in the military dockyard of Kaliningrad, the Russian enclave on the Baltic Sea, the ancient Königsberg, Kant’s and Käthe Kollwitz’s homeland. Painting a military landscape is a performing challenge against fear. The great military organization seductive power and its violent visual impact gave me a way to challenge conventions and to use traditional parameters in landscape paintings with an ironic intent. What I want to reproduce is a mix with old fashion postcards and Portuguese azulejos.
