Abusive relationships come in all sorts of formats, colours and shapes, and anybody may be affected by them at any moment in time. They involve emotional, psychological and physical pain, which are in turn symptomatically expressed in feelings of imprisonment and censorship. The current work – Imprisonment 1- belongs to the series „Imprisonment“ where I explore the manifestation of these feelings in the cenario of domestic abuse. Here I deal with the feeling of being suffocated by an overpowering relationship, hetero or homo. A pair of hands urges to open a window and escape a „trap of the heart“, followed by a hand that desperately attempts to stop it. Outside, the image of a brick wall poses the question „What is there, outside, in the public sphere, to comfort and rescue the suffering lived in private?“
