Proposition 260

Proposition 260

Proposition 260's support is wood gilded with 22kt gold. The form breaks the rigid square support of the wall and is built-up with countless layers of reclaimed architectural paint that is used for its physical nature and thus develops beyond the initial structure of the wooden plane. Layers of pigment and varnish cover the architectural paint to touch on the chromatic nature of the medium and divide the form vertically, while brushed oil paint "patchwork" divides the chromatic support horizontally.

I know the work of Buren...I would say that the only similarity is the stripes though. Unfortunately you can't see the stripes are comprised of vertical and horizontal "patchwork" brushstrokes. These serve to break-down the stripes into even smaller "parts." You can see a better detail on my website. I appreciate your comment...and for taking the time to look at the image.
