Biography

The lasting impressions of abandoned environments or objects are the foundations of my oil paintings. I work from photographs, location and non-location drawings to establish a composition then work from my own feelings to creating the varied colour. I’m greatly inspired by J. M. W. Turner and more contemporary artists such as Peter Doig and Ian Francis, all of which have a unique way of manipulating the paint. I aim to allow the subject of my paintings another chance of being seen and almost a new lease of life, also allowing the viewer to experience what they would normally dismiss.
