Biography
Daniel Ruanova (Mexican-American Border, 1976)
After figuring out that a contemporary art practice could be a "decent and honorable" way to make a living (please put that in context), he has been producing a body of work that jumps into an everyday political and aesthetic overview of life in his time and space, usually focusing in on the pleasures that meaningless violence, power and aggression create in overindulged societies. By showing his work constantly in the US-Mexican border region (that includes Los Angeles) Germany, China, among other places, this artist connects with "a global network" via e-mails, social networking and personal conversations. Ruanova has created a variety of objects, images and situations that encourage the public/viewer to re-think their own position on "the everyday politics of aesthetics".
