Biography

"From a very young age I knew I would follow and lead an artistic life and career. My love, passion and my appreciation for art is who I am and what I live for."

I recently completed my honours in Fine Arts at the University of Pretoria in 2010, and currently commencing with Masters. Have lived in Malalane my whole life and grew up on a citrus farm, Esselen Kwekery/Nursery. Growing up with such a strong connection to the land and nature, it has played a strong influence on me as human and artist.

I have always been told that my artworks contain a very “honest” quality, and that there is forever always a very strong connection to nature. The works have a very strong reference to the female and femininity and her strong reference for centuries with nature, nurture, and Mother Nature. The female has forever in centuries been equated with nature and the natural, and I explore and emphasise that in my work. Thereby as a female artist I naturally and subconsciously always refer to and am influenced by nature. The intense detail and aesthetic quality in my works reflect this fetish and compulsive nature of the female and nature-The Maternal.
