Biography

Born and raised on Cape Cod, I am inspired by the forms and colors of the ocean and national seashore that was always in my backyard. Vibrant and muted shades of blues, green, browns, and purples make up my color palette of yarn as I weave to reimagine the colors of the offseason. Every thread, every warp, and every weaving is a meditative process that reminds me of the repetition of patterns in nature. From threading a loom to weaving a cloth, the whole process is a repetitive system of rules that are easy to get lost in. Weaving is meditative process that put me into a trance, as it is such a rhythmic system of movements. Repetition and rhythms in nature are the patterns we overlook everyday, such as the currents of the ocean, wind patterns, and the repeat of hours each day. Nature and Meditation are two elements often explored within my work in a series of multiples that often create one piece. From thread to acetate, I explore multiple materials like seaweed and dune grasses combined with traditional cottons and silks, while still maintaining this idea of a weave structure. Weather the through the use of material, colors, or concept my work all returns to the sea.
