Inaugurated Sunday, September 13, 2015, at 18.00, the major retrospective curated by Giovanni Bonanno entitled "FRACTAL PORTRAIT PROJECT 2001-2015" that Space Ophen Virtual Art Gallery 2.0 of Salerno dedicated to the Japanese artist Ryosuke Cohen, in celebrate the 30th anniversary of the "Brian Cell" "1985-2015" and as contemporary event and independent designed to coincide with the 56th International Biennial of Art in Venice 2015. For this particular occasion, the gallery has dedicated attention Two Japanese artists like Shozo Shimamoto and Ryosuke Cohen, summarizing beautifully the concept of The World's Futures / "Inside and outside the body," (in and out of the body). Between May 31 and August 29, 2015 we were presented the works of 97 artists in two exhibitions with a respective series of selected works of Shozo Shimamoto, (24 works) on the sidelines of the project Mail Art "Head". From September 13 until November 28, will be present in this important retrospective exhibition (the first retrospective ever devoted to the work of Ryosuke Cohen), at the Space Ophen Virtual Art Gallery 2.0 of Salerno, 72 works of the project "Fractal Portrait" made by Cohen between 2001 and 2015. A second exhibition with 80 other images are presented simultaneously in the virtual space, www.ophenvirtualart.it, with a special educational section entitled "INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE BODY", (in and out of the body), including analysis "Fractal Portrait" performed by Cohen in the field of performance between Face and Body Work.
Born in 1948, Osaka, Japan, Ryosuke is the longest Japanese artist active in the international network for the widespread distribution of mail art. After the project "Brian Cell" (Brain Cell), started in 1985 which saw Ryosuke Cohen involved for 30 long years, with thousands of members in over 80 countries. In August 2001 he started the project called "Fractal Portrait Project" in order to achieve more successfully the concept of "Brain Cell", doing a series of portraits and Body Shape artist friends met in these years (15 years) in several meetings (Meetings) worldwide. Cohen is now the contemporary artist who is no longer the one who produces a work of art according to old ideas classicist tradition, but he serves as a mediator and intermediary between the realization of a project idea (his) and those participating in the project. The work "Fractal Portrait Project" in this retrospective and images concerning the performance visible simultaneously in www.ophenvirtualart.it a corollary of the work done by Cohen in these 15 years of work, are the proper and concrete contribution that we wanted to do for its 30th anniversary.
