A poem that is not simply that of the verses or notes that follow one another on a pentagram. Poetry, among the many languages in which it manifests itself, also appears in the figurative one, that of the infinite artistic beauty.
The space that emerges from a painting is the space in which we pour thoughts and emotional transport. "And if the world has the soul as if in hibernation" the Arts rise up as bastions for survival, creating a new atmosphere, vibrant with life and far from earthly torments.
A life and a poem that in the works of Carmine of the Ioio transpire in the choice of the characters depicted, in the glimpses of the millenary city that the artist knows well and in the gentle and silent elegance of its age-old portals.
It is a ten-year survey conducted by the painter, a diligent search aimed at capturing inspiring moments, talking subjects in their immobile everyday life. Images of life to be translated into pictorial poetry. The setting of this path is always the same, that of the Parthenopean city with its flowing flow, its openings and its contradictions. When the mind of the artist is emptied of worries and vain thoughts comes the moment to indulge the creative vein. Time passes without affecting the seconds of existence. It is necessary to stop, observe, fleetingly trace a picture of life on a notebook, before it disappears, to make a preparatory sketch that recalls the moment that must not escape. An operation that the painter also performs through the use of the camera, focusing landscapes, views, objects and people. The same city provides the artist with recovery media on which to make the final work. The technique is harmonious chaos: pastel colors, acrylics, biro, cloth inserts. The nuances vary color by playing with the emotions of the moment. The painter stands as an observer, he crosses the city in its crucial points, where the crowd spontaneously and inexorably joins every day. So many stories, many looks cross each other without knowing each other and without their knowledge the artist is ready to spy on them. From the inside in the Gallery he describes the sound, the background chaos, the disordered steps. The painting also seems to give back what is far away, the continuous traffic, the exhausting claxons, the soot of exhaust gas coming from outside to flood the pictorial surface. Complex individuality and infinite rationality live in the crowd that possesses, among the few certainties, those of fixed appointments, of obligatory passages.
The vanishing point is the sea. You can see it in the distance. Just a glance at the bottom of the descent to recognize it and make sure it is still there, ready to wet the city and wait for his people.
Carmine Dello Ioio's painting, while drawing its own motif from reality, sometimes joins with the fantasy world of childhood, with those delicate and pure touches impressed by the young disciple Marida.
