CRITICAL TEXT by Alessandra Lupo
Mario Glover

Mario Glover was born in Rome in 1962. He lives and works in Frascati
Always a lover of art. In fact, as a child he attended the family's "bottega", a famous antique shop opened in 1887 by his great-grandfather in via di Ripetta, which later moved to the prestigious Piazza di Spagna. In that context his passion for art is increased and supported by his mother who works alongside her antiquarian activity with that of organizing major auctions.
His talent is rewarded, so much so that at the age of 17 he is able to make accurate evaluations of important works, while he deepens his studies by attending the Liceo Artistico - La Mola Adriana, branch of the historic school in Via di Ripetta.
Since 1991, after the closure of the family business, he has opened his own space in Frascati where he remained for years until 2015. His introspective work led him to experiment with his innate talents and with a mix of creativity and culture, as an antiquarian "Explodes" as a painter through experiments of various kinds.

It's his first solo show in the Rione Monti in Rome -
Self-taught, but with a long excursus of great interest, and with a course on the field over ten years, he arrived in the heart of Rome, selected and chosen by architect Monica Cecchini, curator of the exhibition in the Incinque Gallery that he has managed for years.
The artist exhibits part of his works, works of medium and small format in which with wise mixture of oil, acrylic and felt-tip pen, he transposes on wooden boards, mostly portraits and self-portraits with strong, decisive and contrasting colors and tones.
Capture the expressiveness of each individual subject he portrays, very well.
Its primary concept is "The face is a galaxy", a metaphorical representation of an intimate face to face with the subject; interchange of giving / having in which the protagonist merges with the soul of the artist.
A sincere dialogue in which both are exposed.
The intent is to extrapolate the essence of all expressiveness into its many nuances.
The exhibition is completed by the DREAM BOX collection (Boxes of dreams) in which the material becomes multi-layered, the base painted with mixed media on wood / canvas, on which two perforated aluminum layers are superimposed to have the perception of the image in multiple dimensions . Side by side collage of works by the famous Japanese photographer Araki.

The idea of the Monica Cecchini exhibition

"Buongiorno Mario" represents the opening to transformation.
Change is everywhere in life, just like the seasons, but many times these can be suffered and in suffering we repeatedly ask ourselves why. Then suddenly the time comes when we understand that the painful transformation has been useful to arrive at a new season.
"Buongiorno Mario" embodies serenity in accepting change, with a sense of lightness, understood as liberation, openness to spring, but at the same time with real awareness of the past and the present.
The exhibition will be an artistic excursus of Mario Glover, who portrays those who meet like a greeting, a discovery of a new galaxy.

Retracing his work, simulating his small studio crowded with works, we will find beyond his portraits, even his "Buongiorno Mario": small installations to be discovered.

During the exhibition the artist will continue to paint in a continuous live painting and Incinque open Art Monti will become a studio. So that by entering the gallery, you might have the chance to be portrayed by the artist.
