Bloody Party
Exhibitions, Italy, Napoli, 15 May 2009
Matteo Sanna, since the beginning of his itinerary, has turned to the youth of the world, using different media, from video to sculpture, from the readymade to photography; in this staff has a Wunderkammer (Chamber of Wonders), in which the works reveal the complex emotional tied to the growth of an individual from birth until the start of adolescence, the latter understood as the time when the individual child takes conscience and you have to deal with life.
According to the Greeks, the man with metis has two qualities. The first consist in the acuity and subtlety of mind, thanks to the mobility of intelligence which goes with the speed of action. The other consist in the rightness of the glance, the precise aims, the ability to channel all resources on purpose. The concept of metis goes into modern times with emotional intelligence. The artist with “Bloody Party” shows us how with “cunning of reason”, that is to say that intelligence is involved in the representation and artistic-creative solution of emotions and feelings, using languages to meta-rational nature, such as cunning, sharpness, intuition, stratagem, attention, dexterity, agility, sociability, precision of the glance, mental speed and instinctive skill.
We are facing a series of works (readymades, photography, sculpture, installations, neon) that with extreme agility and brevity, at the same time reveal and prove all the emotional stages that everyone of us has crossed in the first twelve years of life; move with the dexterity of the birth trauma at the posting maternal uterus to the joy of the beauty of learning, ”Soggetto sottinteso” ; to the ancestral fears living with our sleep, ” Sleeping with the ghosts”; at the sad realization that even food may be trading, ”Sweet misery”; to the mistrust towards religion which, in recent decades, has lost purity and lightness into the darkness of the materiality and clumsy pretext of the human sin to be a “Black Guardian”. We face relate to the happiness of their peers to learn that life is acceptance of rules and roles, ”Ponte Ponente Ponte Pi”, but also acceptance of the concept of normality and diversity, “Joy division”, we understand how the growing discrepancy exists between family traditions, religious and moral issues and the need to live in the contemporary, ”Portrait of an italian family”, we meet the emotion-action of the first impact with the love “A vision just a vision” , and finally “Bcome-Bcause”, a sculpture, resin size, depicting a child on the point to the awareness that the blows suffered during his first period of growth will no longer be absorbed by the unconscious child, but will become inner wounds to fortify the human being ready to face the unknown world of adolescence.
Complete a sculpture exhibition, ”Sa Carròga” , located in the sub-tunnel, representation of the mystification of the concept of peace, even an unveiling, a revelation yet, an awareness.
