recorridos/paths - argentinian contemporary art
Exhibitions, Italy, Venezia, 01 June 2011
On the occasion of the 54th Venice Biennale, twenty-three works by Argentinian artists will be exhibited from 1st June 27th to November in the San Servolo Island. The works have been chosen by Massimo Scaringella to form a path in contemporary Argentinian art.
The present Argentinian art is an European offspring having peculiar Latin American features. It reflects a way of feeling the detached relation between a work and its environment, where the influence of both history and present circumstances is very strong.
Regardless of the creative technique adopted in each case – be it figurative, abstract, conceptual or digital – two different approaches can be noted: the coloristic-materic, one, with a powerful abstract effect, and another one linked to the aim of the work of art and its genuinely visual conceptual purpose.
The exhibition points to a viable path in the artistic context of the country, showing works by nationally and internationally known artists as well as promising young artists with good future prospects and able to create excellent works.
