'Celeste Network, a case study: how an art prize became a network for artists.'

At 6.30pm in via Pendola 37 (second floor), Siena.

I will describe Celeste's evolution, from being a simple website which hosted an art prize, to a platform for the promotion of works, events and projects for its 39,000 signed-up members.

I would like to show how a virtual network can stimulate the creation of works of art; be an important resource for institutions and curators of exhibitions; a space in which real world projects can be started online; and a place where professional skills needed to complete one's work can be found among like-minded colleagues.

stARTers: assaggi d'arte:
13 discussions with artists and professionals from all over the world, who speak of art as being a creative process, a meeting of experiences, an instrument to explore complex social conditions in today's society. This event is part of a series promoted by Siena Art Institute, which is fast becoming an important centre for artistic research, residency and teaching in Siena.
