Fairs, Italy, Firenze, 24 March 2010
There are mixed feelings from artists regarding exhibiting at an art fair. Some find the pleasure of the experience fogged over by what can be great associated costs for international artists. For myself, the opportunity to see a wonderful new nation and soak in the culture of Florence was too good to pass up and so I accepted the invitation to participate and embarked on my journey to Florence.
The Biennale was wonderful. There are many costs involved true, and those artists who participate with the sole expectation of making sales or finding prestige might be disappointed. But those artists who attend ready to embrace the experience, meet artists from all over the world, take in the influence of many different cultures, and take in learnings from the event, then the Biennale will be exactly what you expect it to be - wonderful.
