"Take Away" Paintings by Ines Lenz
Exhibitions, Italy, Firenze, 09 January 2012
Ines Lenz was born in Thusis (GR), Switzerland in 1960.
After a commercial banking apprenticeship, she followed her long-time dream to dedicate herself to creative studies and moved to Florence in 1990. From 1991-1993, she attended the School of Graphic Specialization, “Il Bisonte,” where she received a qualification certificate from the Region of Tuscany. In 2000, she began studies at the Accademia di Belle Arti of Florence where she received a diploma in 2005 for Painting. While studying at the Accademia, she co-founded the artistic research group “11spine” and participated with the group in numerous exhibitions, workshops, installations, performances, videos, photography projects, and other media events, including: Exhibition for Peace at the Galleria Base, Florence; Infiammatorio at the Galleria La Corte Arte Contemporanea, Florence; La Selva di Tirli (a contemporary art workshop); Viandando Homines Ambulatores (an art laboratory), Altopascio; Integration and Conflict, Networking in Florence, Rotte Metropolitane, Florence; and Private Flat, contemporary art in private spaces in Florence.

In 2010, Lenz had a one-person exhibition at the Galleria LIBA, Pontedera; in 2011 at the Villa Pozzolini, Florence; and in 2012, here at the SACI Gallery. She has participated in numerous group exhibitions, and has illustrated two books recently published in Germany and Switzerland.

The works on display in this exhibition are the result of research which has focused on the relationships of chromatic contrasts that alternate with geometric structures interrupted by signs of quotidian life, from road signs to digital culture. The symbols give the paintings a hint of irony.
