What are the cultural resources of a territory as the province of Turin? The first thing, of course, is the architectural and museum heritage, considered to be among the first in the world, but we forget the myths and historical figures and as such count figures in the collective imagination as valuable evidence of a culture in which our roots .
"The witch is a person dedicated to the practice of witchcraft and equipped, according to different beliefs variously spread in the culture of many peoples ancient and modern, the occult powers of his being in contact with evil entity hell supernatural or otherwise."
This first definition they intertwine taking other specific characters, but in principle, the witch is always one who stands out from those around her, and that does not fit entirely to the way of life and the rules of the social group they belong to. In front of the collective imagination, the stories and the folklore that run around these figures, we would like to bring up images of women, often simply women, curators and connoisseurs of nature and herbs, shamans. Women sometimes educated, enemy of common sense, certainly women at the margins. Mirror forerunner of female emancipation that had to wait many centuries to catch on.
Certainly witches still exercise great charm, and after two editions in the municipality of Rivara seat of the Inquisition for the Canavese, in collaboration with the Municipality of the City of Rivoli, in the prestigious museum of the Casa del Conte Verde, the intent it is to connect the witchcraft and the Masche with art and representation.
It starts with an exhibition of Art to create a true path of knowledge of the topic and its connection with painting and art in general. The art in the making, the creation of the image evolving turns real.
Culture, and the discovery of what each artist has a personal vision and emotional of the figure of the witch. An exhibition by artists (painters, sculptors, graphic artists, photographers, cartoonists ...) Everyone is invited to create a work devoted to the subject.
A nature trail and an iconographic study on the representation of the witch in the past centuries, will join the exhibition. (See presentation separately)
To complete the offer presentations and introduction by art critics accredited - conferences, meetings, workshops and laboratories.
