TEXT of Assunta Pagliuca - ENGLISH translation of Caterina Lerro
Madness in the research for the real ‘ vultus’
The work, "The impossible space of reflections", is one of a four-part work. It is another step of the artist in her artistic development made up on analysis and observation. The work is an example of how photography used with a polymorphic language may create an evocative contrast between the prospective and the colour, contrast that breaks the predictable logic of the now and here. The artist evoking the idea of madness makes evident the place of fusion and the achievement of the metaphysical level. The metatemporal dimension takes us in places where life as we know it exists no more. Our inner and truer self too often is annulled by the social conventions and obligations and it is oppressed by altered pictures and perceptions. And the image we project around us is similar to the one we can see in a deforming mirror. The work shows us a blank frame so that the human figure in front of it cannot reflect its image in it , this symbolizes the human need to see the invisible in contrast with a reality where a changeable and variegated soul collide with the wall. Inside a skilled game of lights and shadows, a flow of thoughts runs in an emotional and confused way. The final effect is the expansion and disembodiment od the mental space.
With an adept skill, the artist Pina Della Rossa express the effort of a journey in the soul. Her shot does not fix a moment but communicates the dynamism and the instability and so doing she gives form to the darkness and depth existing in the mind. The work shows us a prospective and bilateral vision of a body seen neither in front nor from behind. The woman in the picture has lost her physicalness, losing her power in the surrounding darkness. A hunted world is created by the contrast between lights and shadows. What is left of the human figure is just the superimposing of the two levels of foras and intus. The woman goes beyond and pre-determined life and takes her beyond the phenomenon reality. This is the beginning of the eradication and the form and the meaning lose their stability, they become short and authentic. The spirit travels through images and symbols thanks to which it is possible to get in touch with feelings and sensations, in a word with the dionysiac passions. The soul is divided into small units without any logic and gets lost in the boundless world of the conscience. It represents the madness of the new meanings, the mad liberations from any trouble. The human being is at last himself, fred by any masks. It is Madness itself that allows the soul to search its real vultus. Now it will be possible to go beyond the wall, beyond the contradictions of life, reaching its real meaning, that daimonas, δαίμονας che is inside any human beings. Truth will be watched over by new eyes that have leant that often only scrutinizing inside we can have a glimpse of life.
