Half of last year we asked ourselves questions – why? Why the art environment of Russia so strikingly differs from all other world? Why in Russia in one century there were two poles in art: «natural completeness limited» Russian avant-guard of 10-20th years and improbably rich «the filled emptiness» the Soviet art, forming a modern history? «The black square became an incarnate reality. Russia? The nation separated from beauty, …» – Edward Steinberg in letter Ê.Ñ. (To the Cassimere to Malevich) in 1971.
Second half of our year has passed in working joint international projects-dialogues-exchanges. And we are ready to discuss the certain art part of visual space accessible to our first-hand experience, having come nearer from within to other creative process.
The artifacts collected for year, give accurate understanding about displacement of senses, occurrence of new reference points. Today the art environment possesses improbable riches of ideas, contexts, creative strategy which we face daily. We consume this information and we order, and probably now it is one of features of functions of the modern artist. That occurs at the moment, in many respects reminds cleaning, and it sometimes very positive and a useful occupation.
At an exhibition "STUFF" we develop idea about work of the artist as the project lasting in time, and attempt to embody it in the exhibition form, in a mode «here and now». The exhibition, that is the traditional form ðåïðåçåíòàöèè, isn't represented for us essentially satisfactory result. Ðåïðåçåíòàöèÿ, most likely, became one of enough important rituals of art process though it is clear that its sense lies in something the friend, probably, in work with social, ecological, scientific and other reality art methods, activity within the limits of any is art-pilot projects. Such were: the pilot project àðò groups «Live illustrations» in ÿíâ. 2010, "Dvorovik" on Anton Glushko, 46 in àïð. 2010,where artists have actively drawn attention of the public to a social problem of collapsing architectural monuments of Taganrog, «On procession» on City Day celebrating in ñåíò. 2010, "Art beeches" at 5th International book Chekhovian festival where the invited writers have seen artistic images of the products on city streets. It would be desirable to think that similar experiments with exhibition spaces specify a certain exit from traditional modern exhibition an expert – alter sense ðåïðåçåíòàöèîííîé activity a little, giving them the social status.
The project "Stuff" we establish the fact of change of the concept of a work of art which becomes only a part of more difficult author's strategy.
