"Boston –Vienna 2ways"
During a time when art transcends national borders and when artists become cosmopolitan explorers of culture. I am proud to announce that Fabrizio Bellanca of Rome is the founder of the exhibition "Boston-Vienna 2ways". This journey into the heart of contemporary art of Boston and Vienna is an exchange between Europe and the United States that offers the opportunity to think about different identities and cultural heritages.
Bellanca’s work represents Italy’s experimental side, one for all the world to see. Many paintings portray cities like Boston, New York and Vienna, where the foundation of their architecture and the physiognomy of their people become a source of inspiration for the artist. He uses a combination of art and technology; in his works, metallic shadows and brushes of color give new birth to the consistency of reality.
The Consulate General of Italy in Boston supports this project, with the hope that contemporary Italian art will assume even a larger role in the international level. We will continue to promote new initiatives that strengthen the dynamic and innovative image of our country. I hope that the public will appreciate the exhibition and I would like to take the chance to give a warm welcome to all the artists that are participating.
Giuseppe Pastorelli Console Generale d’Italia a Boston
Laconia Gallery is pleased to be a part of a rich cultural exchange initiated by Fabrizio Bellanca, Vienna <--> Boston 2Ways, which involves artists from Boston, Massachusetts, Vienna, Austria and Como, Italy. The conversations, organization and display of an exhibition in Boston to be followed by one in Vienna next year has already created new friendships, and interests
between artists working in these countries and we hope that audiences will gain a deeper
understanding and appreciation for the unique cultural environments the cities of Boston, Vienna and Como continue to provide for working artists of every type. This collaboration will give visual artists from Europe and America an opportunity to spend time in a different creative environment–that of the exchange city, to exhibit their artworks to a new audience, and to visit the studios of the artists that host each part of this exhibition.
We believe this kind of exchange helps further the understanding and critical feedback that artists use to understand the way audiences across the globe interact with the artworks that they create, deepening connections to political, civic and artistic practices that effect us all. We at Laconia Gallery invite everyone to visit Boston for this unique exhibition and to meet these artists while they are in Boston. The second half of the exhibition in Vienna will feature artists from Boston and be hosted by Gallery Area 53 and Mounty R. P. Zentara. We look forward to continuing the conversations and friendships established through this exchange and wish to thank the supporters of this exhibition for helping to make this possible: Italian Consulate in Boston, Dremel Corporation, Gallery Area 53, Vienna, Prima Transport and Trading from Switzerland and many others.
