Dunwu - Epiphanies

It is an on-going project focused on the individual and collective memory of contemporary China. This first series of snapshots (14 b/w prints 40x60) rises from the idea that memory is not only the 'historical memory' of a ‘collective identity‘, but also something mainly subjective, deeply rooted in every individual's psyche. Every man's memory is an epiphany in itself then, and China's memory -the memory of the Chinese 'every-man' -does not make any exception. In a part of these images the a-temporality of the stream of consciousness is intentionally expressed through the movement and the roughness of the photographic grain; meanwhile, the ostentation of stillness of the other pictures becomes its counterpart.
