Francesco Insinga: In hoc tempore
Exhibitions, Italy, Ascoli Piceno, San Benedetto del Tronto, 25 October 2009
The appointments of the programme “I don't know and I don't want to know” are going on at Marconi Gallery of Cupra Marittima. After the successful exposition of Giuseppe Restano, on Sunday 25th October at 6.oo p.m. there will be the opening of Francesco Insinga sole exhibition. The exposition, organized in cooperation with White Project Gallery of Pescara, is curated by Renato Bianchini, who is the author of the critical text as well.

“The time of art has a kind of expansion, which isn't absolutely unchangeable, its boundaries are invisible, only the artist can recognize them, because his operation is unpredictable.
His present seems always unfinished because he doesn't give any certainity.
His progress continuously tends to withdraw and then to get close again. Attracted by his own glance, he even moves back as if he wanted better understand the meaning of the interpretation.
Suddenly, the work seems to be a growing wonder and the backward event turns into a worrying presence, which needs an illusionistic perspective in order to be viewed. (Renato Bianchini)

I don't know and I don't want to know isn't just an answer, it's also a provocation, an attitude and, after all, a kind of agnosticism, that about art we could say cultural. It is a way to face the great questions about mankind: where do we come from? Where do we go? Why sorrow? Why baked potatoes are never enough?
An answer which is often convenient, sometimes upsetting. It expresses the will of ignorance, that is very far from the Socratic statement following which, the real wise man is the one who knows he doesn't know. There isn't any will for knowledge, no curiosity, only detachment and indifference.
This sentence is often made in front of an art proposal and it hurts a little. The one who says it may seem a bit out of the time, but he really is often one of the not too much silent majority.
It would now be legitimate to answer the question: why such a title for a program of expositions?
The answer is already in the title, after all.
