Natureculture
Exhibitions, Italy, Ascoli Piceno, San Benedetto del Tronto, 23 January 2011
Marconi Gallery and the Municipal Administration of Cupra Marittima (Department of Culture) present Natureculture, on Sunday 23rd January at 6,00 p.m. It's a project with three group expositions that wants to draw attention to the controversial and fascinating relationship between nature and culture.
The first exhibition proposes the works by Roberto Cicchiné, Paolo Consorti, Armando Fanelli,Giovanni Manunta Pastorello, Josephine Sassu and Gabriele Silvi. Dario Ciferri is the curator of the event and of the texts.
Natureculture is the third appointment of the series Too Much! (Marconi Gallery exagerates), and it is an invitation to reflect about the future of our species, of our world and of our lifestyle. Art observes the contemporary and gives voice and shape to hopes, fears, concerns and dreams. Natureculture glance is sometimes clear and sometimes dreamlike, a unique path doesn't exist, neither an absolute truth, but thousand of possible paths, which could recreate a respectful relationship and a future on our planet, the only one we have at our disposal.

"The ancient civilizations considered the earth as a mother, nature was seen as a bearer of prosperity and abundance, supplier of food and crops. Hunanity has always looked back nostalgically to a regained mythical golden age where the earth gives its richnesses without any working by men. Nevertheless, a vision of nature as an uncontrollable and irrational, capricious and cruel force has always been juxtaposed to that idyllic vision. The human being has always fought against the nature and has always tried to enslave it to his own needs.
Nature and culture continuously approach and move away, it's a deep and radical relationship, art has constantly drawn on the natural concept. The idea of nature cannot be understood only as natural environment, as it touches on many aspects, from human soul to cosmos, from ecosystem to life and to the misery human beings suffer and make others suffer. Human being is part of this complex interweaving, he cannot dominate the nature neither passively undergo it. The possibility of life for man and for all the other creatures, which he shares the universe with, comes from the research of a balance with Mother Earth. Natureculture tells all this through the different art languages and the research paths of the artists in the expositions.
(Dario Ciferri)

A new series for the sixteenth year of activity, in the renewed spaces of Marconi Gallery, but strongly roteed in its research course. All this would seem already Too much. But it cannot be sufficient. Our hope is to work still coherently, with our being willful and wanting to grow, always behind the times, capturing ideas and changes of our time. All this would seem Too much as well. There is neither arrogance nor immodesty but the 2010-2011 series is just entitled Too Much ( Marconi Gallery exagerates), because in a world where there is the crisis that is involving million of people, where everyone of us is subjected to cuts and restrictions of the fundamental rights, we feel the desire to overflow, and not only physically.

Complimenti per la tematica dell'evento. Agli artisti, ancora una volta, il compito di andare avanti, di vedere oltre ...
