Critical essay and audiovisual production by Dorian Cara.
The city of Seregno and the Carrara Academy of Bergamo, once again together. In view of the Christmas holidays, they present a new project dedicated to the interpretation of family affection through the confrontation of two Lombard artists separated for five centuries, combined in sensitivity and humanity: Bernardino Luini and Luca Crippa.
Housed at Palazzo Landriani Caponaghi in Seregno, the project celebrates art through the dialogue between two artists distant in time but united by their origins and feelings: Bernardino Luini (Dumenza 1481/1482 circa - Milan, June 1532), one of the most representative of the Milanese reality of the late fifteenth century and Luca Crippa (Seregno 1922 - 2002). The family was chosen, an intimate theme which, in two declinations half a millennium apart, is transfigured to reach a more universal dimension.
Family portraits, through the exhibition of four works, tells the theme of affection, between ancient painting and contemporary art. On the one hand, Bernardino Luini with Adoration of the Child (1524), an extraordinary loan from the collections of the Accademia Carrara, expresses the sentiment with simplicity and composure, capturing the intimacy of the relationship between parents and children, without forgetting the greatness of the theological reading. On the other hand, Luca Crippa interprets the same theme through a contemporary, abstract and symbolic language, with three different works - two collages and a multi-material creation - characterized by a playful synthesis between the different elements and subtle irony. This precious and original dimension of dialogue between distant people is created in a space that becomes a crossroads: the Carrara Academy of Bergamo and the Municipality of Seregno draw ancient treasures and new knowledge from their respective chests.
