CLIMATE CHANGE
Exhibitions, Italy, Lucca, Stazzema, 15 June 2018
"Climate Change" is an event that includes a convention of Scientists combined with an Exhibition of Contemporary Art with conceptual works related to the theme.

As part of the celebrations of the 22nd anniversary of the flood in Versilia and the program of the Summer Solstice will be held on June 15, 16 and 17 June 2018 an artistic event on climate change with the artist Gianfranco Bianchi who will propose to the Palace of the Culture of Cardoso (Municipality of Stazzema) over 30 works of art that will be accompanied by moments of reflection on climate change. The idea came from the artist himself, who thought of a series dedicated to climate change after channeling his creativity towards the relationship between art and science in the field of Astrophysics with his series on the Macrocosm, and in the field of Biology, with the series on the Microcosm. The series on climate change is therefore the third series of the artist dedicated to the scientific world, where they are represented, through paintings and installations, those problems of which too little is spoken and that affect the whole human race "that risks, if not will remedy, to live ever worse, in an increasingly hot, increasingly tropicalized, with increasingly frequent natural disasters such as hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, with an increase in drought with serious consequences for agriculture (and thus increase hunger in the world), with the reduction of drinking water (also in Europe), with the rise of the seas due to the melting of the ice, which could make Venice disappear and, in just two centuries, even the Po delta ", warns the artist.

The goal is to bring together art and science by launching a cry of alarm. It starts with the vernissage Friday, June 15 at 17.00 in the presence of the city administration and the artist; the art critic Lodovico Gierut, the bioclimatologist Antonio Raschi, the geologist Angelo Minissale and the poet Monica Petroni will also be present. The morning of Saturday 16 June is dedicated to the conference of reflection on these issues: at 10.30, on climate change will discuss the biometeorologo Antonio Raschi, the climatologist Gianni Messeri, the geologist Angelo Minissale, Elvezio Galanti of the Department of National Civil Protection and the Mayor of Stazzema Maurizio Verona. The third and final day space back to art with the presentation, at 17, of the book "Effetto Domino" by Monica Petroni by the historian and writer Marilena Cheli Tomei. The author will be present and will project her latest video-poem "Precluded", dedicated to the victims of the flood of '96 (poetry contained in the book).

"Combining art and science is something bold that fascinated me", commented the Councilor for Culture of the Municipality of Stazzema, Serena Vincenti, "and I think it's a good way to reflect on environmental disasters that are related to climate change. The artist Gianfranco Bianchi does it in an original and intelligent way, striking the living observer of his works. For this reason we are honored to host this exhibition in a place as significant as Cardoso, where water from a source of life turned into a source of catastrophe. We need to be aware that these changes are happening and that we need to slow them down until we are on time ".

"I thank you for having accepted my project", says the artist Gianfranco Bianchi, "and for this reason I would like to donate to Il Comune di Stazzema (at the end of the event) my work Il Cielo Sopra Cardoso, which will be exhibited together with the works dedicated to climate. This picture (of dimensions cm 100,2 x 170,2 x 1), I hope that it can be exposed permanently near the Municipality or in another institutional place. This work was conceived by an idea by Lodovico Gierut for the exhibition of two years ago in Cardoso, and is dedicated to the victims of '96 by Cardoso and those of '44 of S.Anna. Furthermore, it was exhibited at the Museo Lechi in Montichiari last year as part of one of my solo shows. "
