"CosmoGRAPHIES between Sign, Matter and Vision"
Exhibitions, Italy, Roma, 09 November 2011
A tale technological and philosophical, conceptual and metaphysical, surreal and fantastic on the various cosmological issues, told through painting, sculpture, photography, digital art installation, video.
The exhibition, curated by Eva Czerkl, aims to investigate through the works of a large group of contemporary artists from different generations and levels of experience, the complex relationship between science and art, between the cosmos and human soul, seemingly worlds distant.
A path of matches between different tendencies and poetic, connected by a thin-fil rouge which is the theme that unites them: the journey undertaken by man to discover, measure, represent, evoke and describe the space, nature, sky, the universe, then the Cosmos.
The discoveries of astrophysics, including reconsideration, denials and new theories, basically did nothing but raise questions about the existence of the Universe and its destiny.
There is a point beyond which science does not go beyond. Here the imagination takes over.
The considerations of a scientific nature, as well as interpretations of mythological or fantastic, basically serve the same purpose: to explain the existence of the universe and its inhabitants. Blacks holes and cosmic strings are placed on the same level of stimulation of the creative visions of the world, or pre-Columbian civilizations of Mesopotamia. An Aztec calendar can be challenging as the more recent theory astrophysics. Just as it can be a work of art.
"The artists in 'cosmography', Sergio Gabriel writes in the introduction to the catalog," no distance between them and the art, meaning assume miraculously leaving their components to their simple revolution Democritus, who puts the world at random , allow the enveloped forms of metaphysics in the guise of the incomplete, which reveals its substance in the pure reason of things, in the cosmogony of vision, representation, once that is done and the happiness that is ever being there, in a anachronistic play of perspectives and Qasar signals that the endless dull and make it plausible, sustainable, that is fatuous and lively zero.
