ARARAT STORIES
the best from Armenian videoart

Tuesday 8 February at 7.00 p.m., [.BOX] Videoart Project Space is presentig the video exhibition Ararat Stories: the best Armenian videoart.
The event is curated by Carolina Lio and organized in virtue of a collaboration between VisualContainer, Italian videoart distributor and ACCEA, Armenian Center for Contemporary Experimental Art. It enjoys support from the European Cultural Foundation in Amsterdam and the Open Society Institute of the Soros Foundation in New York, thanks to the Step Beyond travel grant, aiming at cultural exchanges among European and neighbouring countries.
The exhibition is the second step of an exchange that has alreday allowed twelve Italian artists to be the protagonist of a show at the renowned ACCEA in Yerevan in December 2010 (event: “Italian Container: The emerging Italian videoart comes to Yerevan”).
Now [.BOX] is happy to welcome twelve Armenian artists in Milan and present a 15-video selection that focuses on the art and social contemporarity in the country.
From Sonia Balassanian, the first videoartist in Armenia, to the young but already internationally acclaimed Tigran Khachatrian, the exhibition shows the best of the videoart being produced in Armenia, through an attentive selection of the most famous protagonists as well as of the artworks that best represent a country under costruction and a nation with a great history.
In addiction to the opening dates, the exhibition will be available for viewing at [.BOX] till 28 February on request and will enjoy online free presentation on Visualcontainer TV, the first web-tv entirely dedicated to international videoart: www.visualcontainer.tv.
Invited artists: Sona Abgarian, Vahram Akimian, Anoush Arakelian, Sonia Balassanian, Gagik Ghazareh, Armen Hacobian, Diana Hakobyan, David Kareyan, Tigran Khachatrian, Mkrtich Tonoyan, Hamlet Vardanian, Gayane Yeghiazarian.
