Italians do it better(?)
Exhibitions, United States, Pomona, 01 November 2012
Between November 1st-15th 2012 Latino Art Museum in Pomona, Los Angeles, California, is home to a collective exhibition titled “Italians do it better(?)”, curated by Adelinda Allegretti. The group show is open to Italian and foreign artists working with different medias (painting, photo, computer graphics, engraving, sculpture, ceramics and installation). The exhibition will be host in Grand Salon West and Main Salon East, the entire exhibition space of the Museum.
The title (Italians do it better) is ironically takes from the t-shirt worn by Madonna in the video "Papa don’t preach"; if in that case there was the implication of a sexual nature (without question), now we want to imply not only a comparison between Italian and American artists, but at the same time between Italian artists and those of other continents that are even invited to participate to selection. The theme is free. Bi-dimensional artworks (paintings, photos, computer graphics and engravings) must not exceed cm 150x150, frame included. If the same artist intends to present 2 or more bi-dimensional artworks with frames, these must be identical and previously selected. All artworks must have fixings.
Participation is not guaranteed, so every artist must send photographic documentation of the artworks, listing the technique, the year of execution, dimensions and price.
Organizers will offer shipment from Italy to USA, and from USA to Italy. Please, contact us for costs. In this case we only will ship bidimensional artworks (canvas, photos, artworks on paper), size cm 50x70 maximum, without frame or glass. Artworks also must reach curator’s studios (Como or Rome). Organizers will be no responsible for shipping made by artists on their own or by their courier. Also their artworks will must be deliver to the gallery within October 30th.
The curator will be in charge of setting up and dismantling the exhibition; also she will be present at the opening.
The organization will provide insurance for civil responsibility. Artists wanting to insure their artworks against damages and thefts will have to do so on their own.
The organization will hold 30% on the sales. In case of sell the artist have to give C.O.A. The price of the artworks must be indicated in USD.
Artists will need to provide a high resolution photo in .jpg of the selected works (not less than 300 dpi). The exhibition will be accompanied by a .pdf colour catalogue with all the exhibited works. The organization will also provide invitation and poster in .pdf and .jpg format and prepare a press-release for Italian and local journalists.
A page with information about the exhibition (artists list, photos of the selected artworks, catalogue, invitation, poster, any published articles, photos of the opening) will be permanently visible on the site www.allegrettiarte.com (example: http://www.allegrettiarte.com/dett_mostre.asp?id=335 ).
Also each artist will give a short presentation of his research, both in Italian and English, and a passport photo. This will help the public to better provide visitors information about artist’s history; it will be placed at the side of his artworks. The pictures of selected artworks, complete with selling price to the public, will remain on site www.allegrettiarte.com since the selection and for 30 days after the end of the exhibition, in this case until December 15th. After this period the price will be removed, but pictures will stay permanently.
Interested artists must contact me as soon as possible because; works will be selected upon viewing the material sent by the artists.
