Nuova Gestione

Nuova Gestione is a brainchild of Sguardo Contemporaneo and it is in line with the practice of temporary reusing of abandoned spaces, active from decades on a national and international level (such as No Longer Empty, a no-profit organization that carries out public art projects in abandoned or unoccupied spaces in New York since 2009).
Nuova Gestione is a project characterized by the re-use of disused commercial spaces thus becoming a means of activating various operations, such as:
• the revalue of vacant commercial spaces;
• a contribute to the renovation of suburban areas, involving different social and cultural rights of the concerning areas;
• the use of alternative contexts for the diffusion and production of contemporary art, far from the gallery artworld or the insitutional one;
• to encourage, promote and support the work of young artists;
• to broaden the knowledge of contemporary art towards a various public promoting artistic, educational and entertaining activities.
A project with a community-specific approach which reflects also the lack of expositive and working spaces for artist, as well as on the depression of certain suburban areas affected by the growing in number of empty spaces without any destination of use.
