From 7th to 11th June ten artists are hosted at Centro Studi I Cappuccini in San Miniato to think about “creating Art in the contemporary world”.
On June 7th, started the first edition of Art Symposium, a project created by the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di San Miniato together with Corrado Agricola to support the collaboration between young italian and foreign artists and to emphasize the diversity of the languages of contemporary art.
Art Symposium is a veritable laboratory in which ten artists from different countries are hosted for a week at the Centro Studi I Cappuccini di San Miniato, to reflect upon "creating art ” and upon the different poetics of the artistic work in the contemporary world.
Conceived as a real open laboratory, the initiative is promoting the dialogue and exchange among the participating artists: Nasrin Abu Baker, Corrado Agricola, Giovanni Blanco, Christian Schwarzwald, Claudia Chaseling, Silvia Camporesi, Ralph Gelbert, Mikayel Ohanjanyan Diego Vallejo Pierna and Moran Shoub.
Ten different personalities, ten different sensitivities, work freely and independently, to prove that there is not only one style and one interpretation through which it is possible to understand the present-time but a multiplicity of languages and subjects that allow art and creativity to be always different and never anachronistic.
Every artist, starting from the reflections that flourish in Art Symposium will be asked to create a work that, as a tangible symbol of this experience, will then be donated to the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di San Miniato and will be showed in an exhibition that will open June 12th 2010.
Art Symposium is also open to the public from 7th to 11th June. Meetings with the artists will be arranged by appointment, with the aim of approaching people to the contemporary art world.
