The tattoo fashion has claimed one if not two generations and has become a ubiquitous form of personal expression. Sometimes deeply meaningful, other times stunningly beautiful and decorative. It has become a visual discourse.
Now our pets, yes! our dogs and cats, are succumbing to this cultural tsunami. Michael Pratt has painstakingly documented and captured on canvas the nascent beginnings of this increasingly pan- mammalian movement.
His work with these newly emerging tattooed animals is that of artist and observer and has been compared to the work of Jane Goodall and her work with apes and chimps. Long hours of waiting and winning the trust of the animals through lavish use of pet treats has culminated in this sweeping review of a sub-culture being birthed.
