La Ripa, restaurant museum in Rocca S.Felice, Avellino, presents the exhibition "Ansanto Valley" of artist Salvatore Sapio, a series of ten paintings done recently in which is reinterpreted the worship of the goddess Mephitis and life around the famous shrine through the canons characteristic of pop art. The Ansanto valley saw pilgrims flock to his shrine for about nine centuries, from the seventh century BC It was a kind of Lourdes with a lot of miraculous water. During this long time, many things have changed, the forms and methods of worship, the type of “customers”, the physical structures of the sanctuary itself, and among them also the same gods worshiped.
