Prize calls, Italy, Roma, 24 January 2012
I met Valentina Pedicini few years ago. She made a film about the love story and artistic collaboration between me and Julius Kaiser. A delicate and poignant film, titled "My subversive Love" that talks about art, gender transformation of the drag kings, emotions.

Characterized by a high sensitivity, simplicity and integrity she has been finally paid off: her work is true, honest and has value because it get inside: the truth wins, far from many other strategic marketing products that are often conveyed especially in television (and critical notices it).

Solinas Award for Documentary Film, in collaboration with Apollo 11, is the first prize in Italy for writing creative documentaries, one of the most prestigious.

The Award for Best Documentary goes ex aequo Pedicini Valentina, one of the most promising young talents of Italian cinema.

WOMAN UNDER-GROUND Valentina Pedicini

In the only mine still operating in Italy, 300 men prepare for the final extraction of coal mining history. 300 men and one woman. Patricia is the latest Italian leafminer, "In the early days of work I felt curiosity, I wanted to see what was there after dark. I went back and found another dark. Now this dark is part of my life and of my survival." A black and white film , played between the darkness of the tunnels and abandoned mines of the blinding sun, an attempt to tell the work in mines by a "new" point of view.

Valentina Pedicini, director from south of italy, she carries in her way of making the documentary, the courage of the women from the south and the strong attachment to her land. After her studies in Dialectology, graduated with honors in the Zelig Director, International School of Documentary. Her films are selected and awarded at numerous national and international festivals. Terra Mala is her fourth documentary.
