Personal exhibition
Via Fabio Filzi 40 - at La Piazza del Duomo
Monterotondo (RM)
From 19th to 20th January 2019
Giuliana Silvestrini opens her Atelier in the historic center of Monterotondo, in via Fabio Filzi 40, with a solo exhibition that represents the synthesis of her artistic and life journey.
"His works are always born from a project and, not surprisingly, this time too the artist has chosen for this show something intimate that must be the initials of his home-studio. The underlying theme, in fact, is what she calls "sign chaos", admitting the cathartic function that for her absolves art, through which it is usual to give order to what ordered, by its nature, is not: human existential angst. The magma of thoughts, the rejection of death, the contrast between good and evil, good and bad in this exhibition abandon their tragedy, are transfigured giving rise to an image of Giuliana Silvestrini that is what everyone knows: an artist enthusiastic about life, spontaneous, playful.
Of the three main paintings, in Metamorphosis I hits, through the yellow, the orange and the black signs, the titanic vitalism of the artist. In Metamorphosis II this vitalism melts into a gray background, a color that is born from the fusion of all colors, is able to sublimate the primordial disorder. In Metamorphosis III the blue that breaks through the space makes us think of the desire to go beyond the human limit, a desire that only art can grant, giving life to what the artist imagines: the infinite.
For this exhibition there are other works performed with different languages (paper glued on canvas), similar for the treated theme, such as primordial chaos, or if you want, the pre-established disharmony: in fact, entities made with a tangled graphic fabric dominate you - we could say a ball of yarn - which remain independent in space or touch or even merge with each other.
As in a true cathartic route, the exhibition ends with woodcuts in which, instead, the order is evoked - and invoked - through horizontal lines that recall a musical score, emblem of universal harmony that Silvestrini can reproduce with his subtle and refined art. "(Gloria Zarletti)
