ODIERNA – Sons of Contemporary
International Exhibition of Contemporary Art
May 21 to 25, 2011
Complesso Monumentale della BOCCA della VERITA’
Vernissage Opening May 21, 17:30

New exhibition for The Epireo Art Gallery involving about 60 artists and a location of great prestige and charm as the “Complesso Monumentale della Bocca della Verità” in the heart of the capital. The choice of a building of great historical value, was dictated by the intention to give importance and relevance to the works on display, creating a short circuit between antiquity and modernity useful to highlight the strength with which the contemporary art imposes itself on Ancient Art, remaining, however, in harmony with it.
ODIERNA-Sons of Contemporary, event organized in collaboration with the Academy of Free Sciences and Arts “Alexandros”, sponsored by the Directorate of Cultural Affairs and the Center of the City of Rome, stands as a contemporary revival of Baudelairian concept of the "painter of modern life" .
Investigating the intrinsic meaning of the terms ODIERNA and Sons of Contemporary, this is what comes to light today; Odierna, although, apparently, may be considered a wrong word, is, however, the appropriate term, giving to the current art scene a dimension, without constrict the creative talent, in a claustrophobic definitions.
Consequently, “Sons of Contemporary”, becomes part of this new experience, an unusual journey that started in the first quarter of this twenty-first century, and makes all the participants the pioneers of the art new frontier.
The Vernissage will take place May 21 in the presence of the Director of Ages and art critic Dr. Mara Ferloni, the editor and publisher of “Segni d’Arte” Dr. Nicolina Bianchi and the historian and art critic Dr. Alessia Cervelli. During the evening will be presented the novel by Nelly Putignani, "Hello Dad - A rustle in time"(American Publisher Caribe Group), and will be announced the names of 13 artists who will access the Fifth Edition of The Grifoni Award. In addition, during the evening will pay tribute to the artist Vittorio Carpignano, who died recently.
