In line with its distinctive approach of exhibiting outside in the evenings, the exhibition will invade the historical centre of the city from 3 – 20 July 2014, to continue on with ZOOincittà which finishes at the end of August. Paintings, photographs, sculptures, installations and video artworks which were created specifically for this site will be spread across the Fresia Gardens, a site which was once a city zoo and today is an urban garden. They are part of an itinerary focused on the complex relationship between humanity and anthropized nature, following the same path of investigation as the last three exhibitions.
The interactive and theatrical dimension of certain artistic interventions will stimulate the active participation of the public, the city and its inhabitants, who will be asked to confront themselves with the latest artistic researches focused on collective and participatory experimentation.
The organisation of supporting events will enhance the sense that the event is a public workshop, which even this year will involve the combined actions of artists, designers, inhabitants, associations, private partners and local bodies.
The artists selected by Fabio Cafagna (Arteco), curator of Zooart, in collaboration with Art.ur, for the 2014 edition, are:
About, Sandra Araújo, Francesca Arri, Néno Belchev, Elisa Bollazzi e Hubert Renard, Pamela Breda, Vincent Chomaz, Marco Dapino, Fannidada, Lina Hashim, Hanna Hildebrand e Paul Wiersbinski, Séra Ildi, Anna Ippolito e Marzio Zorio, Vaiva Kovieraite, Mattia Macchieraldo e Flavio Palasciano, Claudia Maina, Valerio Manghi, Elena Mazzi, Driton Selmani, Lucia Veronesi, Evalie Wagner.
The ZOOart itinerary will celebrate the local artistic context as much as national and international art, through the third edition of the LocalArt contest, a project created by the CRC Foundation in collaboration with Art.ur, to support the artists from the province of Cuneo.
Nine emerging artists selected by a committee composed of the curator Claudio Cravero and representatives of Art.ur, the CRC Foundation and the Modena Photographic Foundation (for the photographic selection) will display their artworks for the entire three weeks of the exhibition.
The artists selected within the Visual and plastic arts section are: Franco Ariaudo, Michele Bruna, Roberto Fassone, Andrea Rinaudo, Arianna Uda and Nadir Valente. For the Photographic section: Paolo Balmas, Anna Chiapello and Irene Rubiano.
At the end of the exhibition, the Foundation Cassa di Risparmio di Cuneo will purchase two artworks within the Visual and plastic arts category and reward one artist from the Photographic selection with a scholarship for a Master, promoted by the Fondazione Fotografia of Modena. The CRC Foundation will further support the winners through the participation to a national artfair.
During the month of July and August, the city will be overrun by the new edition of ZOOincittà. To invoke the start of the PISU construction site for the paving in Via Roma in Cuneo, the artistic installations, created during months of workshops by young architects and designers on the theme of the ‘construction site’, will be presented. A selection of the best installations from past editions of ZOOart will also be exhibited in Corso Nizza and Piazza Europa.
In parallel, projects of new visions of the historical centre will be shown in Piazza Audifreddi, created by architects and designers during ‘Idee in cantiere’, a planning workshop for a transforming city, carried out with the PPC Order of Architects of Cuneo. Exhibitions and installations will be visible in the historical city centre every day from 3 July until 31 August.
Finally, the educational, creative and fun workshop Fantamarket, part of the ZOObimbi project, will allow children to play with their imagination on the theme of the market through the creative use of recycled materials. The workshop for children from 3 to 12 years old will take place with free admission on Thursday and Friday afternoons and on Thursday evenings during the first three weeks of July in the children’s area of the Fresia Gardens.
The presentation of ZOOart, the artworks chosen for the public spaces exhibition ZOOincittà and the projects “Idee in cantiere” will take place 27 June at 5.30pm, in the Salone d’Onore del Comune di Cuneo, in the presence of various public and private partners.
