Arzu Yayıntaş lives and works in Istanbul, Turkey. In 2002 she worked as the assistant curator of two exhibitions. The first one was an exhibition in Rotterdam titled Between the Waterfronts, which was a cultural exchange project between Istanbul and Rotterdam and the second one was an urban art exhibition in public space called Istanbul Pedestrian Exhibitions (Istanbul Yaya Sergileri). She was a research assistant at the art management department of the Yeditepe University for 2 years and after that she taught as a part time lecturer at the same university from 2006 to 2008. Between 2002 and 2004 she worked as the associate director at Proje4L- Istanbul Museum of Contemporary Art, which was a nonprofit art space. She was a member of the editorial board of the photography magazine Geniş Açı from 2000-2004 and she also wrote articles and exhibition reviews for the same magazine during this period. She worked as the associate curator for the Istanbul Pedestrian Exhibitions 2: Tünel – Karaköy in 2005. She was the project supervisor of the exhibition titled Mahrem shown at Santralistanbul in 2007. Last year she took part in the curatorial team of Deniz Palas Project, which is a permanent exhibition made for the new building of the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts. She was the artistic exhibition manager of the 11th Istanbul Biennial and in 2010 she participated in the curatorial workshop of the 8th International Gwangju Biennial. Currently she is working as a freelance curator for the 2nd Antakya Biennial, which will open on the 15th of October 2010.
Pieter Vermeulen (b. 1983) is a philosopher, writer and independent curator based in Antwerp, Belgium. He is currently holding a position as guest professor in philosophy and philosophy of art at University College Ghent – Faculty of Fine Arts and Faculty of Music. His educational background lies in philosophy and cultural studies (MA). After his studies, he started working as a producer-manager, coordinator and art critic. As both a curator and theorist, Pieter contributed to projects such as the new media exhibitions Fantastic Illusions (MOCA Shanghai/Buda Kortrijk) and Resonance (Bund18/World Expo 2010 - Belgian Pavilion, Shanghai), and participated in ICI’s Curatorial Intensive in New York City. He moderated and co-/organized different international conferences, e.g. on Double Take by Johan Grimonprez, Tickle Your Catastrophe! and The Documentary Real (Vooruit, Ghent), and has articles published in many exhibition catalogues.
