This exhibition was inspired by a book. Usually it's the opposite : first the idea of a show, you choose the artists and works, and in the end comes the catalog. In this case, instead of in the beginning was the word: the book entitled " The Italian way to Informal . From Afro, Burri Widow and the latest trends , " which certainly did not claim to tell the thread and mark the history of the Informal in Italy , but for the first time tries to break certain automatic academics who consider the experience exhausted Informal in Italy, as in other countries in the world, after about fifteen years of history : from 1948 to 1963 , a year more or less . As if all that comes after the Informal was only the work of imitators . As if the verve and inspiration of the great masters after that time ran out. As if it were one of the many informal , but important mayflies , the avant-garde of the century. The Informal is something different , something more and something less than the other avant-garde movements . But above all it is a veritable revolution era: for the first time in the history of art is conceived a painting without figures , without any reference to reality nor to the geometric shapes nor a symbolic elements . It is a revolution similar to that caused by the invention of perspective . Someone would dream of saying that Caravaggio is a follower than Leonardo or Michelangelo because as they used the Perspective ? Or even worse than Masaccio and Michelangelo Leonardo ...
