Among the selected artists we will have Paolo Bielli with his Ring, which will show the boxer or the boxers in action, even if in this case it is the same artist that we will put to the artistic test: a work in progress that is nothing but the existential metaphor of an artist's life that struggles to establish itself by always relating to the fight of the boxer because they are both alone in a dangerous place like a ring ... made of a violent confrontation with reality, figuratively represented in the boxing struggle.
Taking more and more away from the material, Paolo Bielli will remake for us a representation with silhouettes, where the full-empty play with respect to the background will highlight the actual emptiness that is in man, or rather that emerges as a consequence of the identification of man in research. on himself. A theme repeated several times by the artist, already made known to the public in his first exhibition, in 2005, entitled "Soap", to continue in 2011 at the Italian Pavilion of the Venice Biennale and then again at the MAAM, with the use of this pink color, that is the pigs that were there slaughtered when the building was a factory of sausages, to mark a perfect union with the theme, which in this case becomes the self-portrait of an exploited individual. Implementing his creative intent, Paolo Bielli from October 16th to 21st, in a studio created in one of the MACRO halls, will do his work.
We will see him intent in an assemblage of cut-outs of a boxer's silhouette on a male perfume advertising tablet re-linking to a talk started in 2000 and then as he did in his first "Sapone" exhibition of 2005 (of which the article written by Pier Paolo Pancotto on the Unity of 4 October 2005 gives a broad description). The boxer's silhouette will be colored with spray paint and felt-tip pens will be superimposed on a background decorated with an eclipse-face that repeats itself like a mark or stamp. Then, in a second panel, I superimpose the scrap of the boxer's cutouts on the same background, similar to a wallpaper. The confrontation-clash between the boxer and the artist is now his predominant research. Both alone struggle, to affirm their self.
creating an exchange game. Doing so is revealed to the public in a self-portrait that we can all see.
We will have before our eyes, a life in its endless struggle with oneself and against others, that continuous battle made of advanced and relegation from happiness to sadness, lived in a confrontation faced with courage and without fear, epic attitude of those who exposes to such a risky sport as boxing.
Recall that the theme of these days will be introduced by a self-portrait lesson, which will take place three days before, Friday 12 to 12.00.
Finally, we anticipate the performance that the artist Paolo Bielli will do on the same theme on February 21st 2019, again in the MACRO halls.
